This series has been so exiting so far. The One-day internationals can’t be more interesting than this.  India won finally in yet another nail-biting match of 3rd ODI of the 5 matches series at Newlands by 2 wickets remaining. Chasing the target of 221-runs, India made 223/8 in 48.2 overs. It was the team effort. India now lead the series by 2-1. South Africa winning the toss in morning elected to bat first and made 220/10 in 49.2 overs. Faf du PlessisZaheer Khan took 3 wickets. Harbhajan Singh and Munaf Patel picked 2 wicket each. Yusuf Pathan took the crucial wicket of AB de Villiers (16). made excellent 60-runs for his team in his debut match. He added 110-runs for the fifth wicket partnership with JP Duminy (52). But the Indian bowlers shown good performance again in death overs and got them all out on 220-runs.

 


Replying to the target of 221-runs set by South Africa, India lost Murali Vijay (01) in 3rd over. Dale Steyn caught him in his own bowling. Rohit Sharma then made 52-runs partnership with Virat Kohli (28) who got out on the ball of Morne Morkel. But after that Indian batting started collapsing. Rohit Sharma (23) fell out soon after Virat Kohli. Yuvraj Singh (16) and MS Dhoni (05) couldn’t do much.

 


Yusuf Pathan continued the performance which he left against New Zealand. He with Suresh Raina then added 75-runs for the sixth wicket partnership. At the end, Zaheer, Harbhajan Singh and Nehra made it easy for India to win again. Yusuf Pathan made brilliant 59-runs from 50 balls. Suresh Raina too proved himself worthy and contributed vital 37-runs for his team. Harbhajan (23) and Ashish Nehra (06) were unbeaten. Nehra made the winning runs by smashing the four. Morne Morkel claimed 3 wickets for 28-runs.
Yusuf Pathan is elected Man of the Match for quick 59-runs under pressure and a crucial wicket of AB de Villiers.
Losing skipper, Graeme Smith was pretty disappointed. He reckoned they were 20 runs short as they were looking for 240 but it was Yusuf Pathan’s knock that made all the difference in the end. He knew it was going to be a tight game and they will look to regroup and comeback strongly.

 


Leading by 2-1 in the series, Indian skipper MS Dhoni looked quite happy at the presentation. He said its been two good wins and that’s the beauty of one-dayers. He asked Yusuf to play his natural game as that is what will secure a place for him in the side. Harbhajan is sort of an all-rounder, but he isn’t ready to put the pressure that on him. There are still some areas to attend in the bowling department but the fielding has definitely improved. He is looking forward to the remaining two games.
